Based on principles of second language acquisition, the course introduces various visual grammatical features of the language. Students will also develop beginning level vocabulary to engage in basic introductions, discuss personal and family information, physical activities and talk about one's surroundings. Students also learn to refine visual perception to assist with expression of time, the formulation of negative statements, and rules for social interaction. Homework and assessments included. The course also includes discussion of deaf culture, history and acceptable social behaviours and interactions. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Prep I & II or permission of instructor.
